Natasha Cáceres is an economist based in Barcelona. Her work sits where financial regulation meets the market. She studies Open Finance and digital regulation, and how European rules change the way banks, fintechs and their customers behave.

She holds a PhD from the University of Barcelona. Her doctoral research was carried out in collaboration with the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission. She teaches economics and statistics at university and advises institutions in Europe and Latin America, from public bodies to banks and fintech firms.

On this site she writes about the distance between what regulation says and what markets actually do. Clearly and without jargon, for people who work in fintech, banking or financial policy, and for anyone curious about how money moves in the digital age.

Natasha Cáceres es economista y trabaja desde Barcelona. Su trabajo está donde la regulación financiera se encuentra con el mercado. Estudia Open Finance y la regulación digital, y cómo las normas europeas cambian la forma en que actúan los bancos, las fintech y sus clientes.

Es doctora por la Universidad de Barcelona. Hizo su investigación doctoral en colaboración con el Joint Research Centre de la Comisión Europea. Da clases de economía y estadística en la universidad y asesora a instituciones de Europa y América Latina, desde organismos públicos hasta bancos y empresas fintech.
